Introducing Biotech
Biotechnology is the up and coming scientific pursuit which will hopefully lead to many advances in the fields of health and industry. Basically biotechnology is the place where the knowledge gained from living organisms helps us to design and implement technological advances to improve our standard of living.
Biotechnology is generally the way to use applied biology, or use living organisms or the biochemical processes of organisms to develop useful technologies in engineering, medicine or other fields. Genetic engineering is one example of a biotechnology, as well as tissue and cell-culturing.
Although biology is a modern approach to developing advances in the health and function of civilization, the idea of altering nature to suit the needs of mankind is not new at all. Ever since mankind began domestication of animals, cultivation of crops, hybridization of plants as well as artificial selection of the best examples of a species man has been manipulating nature to his advantage. Biotechnology is just the continuation of this ancient practice.
